Current mood: annoyed

I feel kind of dirty.
So [info]chaoflux23 emails me to let me know that he's found a drawing of mine on another site. That person has since had a hissyfit after I asked them simply for a crediting, and taken it down. (SRSLY? Is it that difficult? It's fucking common courtesy, especially after someone asks.)

They did, however, let me know where they found it, which was here. And the url that links to? HERE, under the banner of David Icke's crazy cult homepage. EWWWW.

I thought the 'reptilian' icon was hilariously appropriate.

That said, I think I need to tie all of the copies of this thing together, wherever they may be, because it's obviously beyond my ability to deal with and control, and make the image into some kind of widespread sigil. If only so that Icky is also unknowingly helping his Eeebil Reptile Conspiracy.

Unrelated, have a giant Indian catfish with a taste for humans. I think I need lots more coffee before I can deal with today.

I'm outraged that someone, asked politely just to give credit, refused and took the picture down. That is an admission of guilt. It would seem more rational just to apologize and comply.
I don't think the chain of mis-appropriation is important to you - that would be their defense, but you have the right to request (demand) credit from each user individually. You don't really care where they got it, just that they acknowledge the work as yours.

No, the chain is important, if only because Icke is a frightening whackjob (this coming from me, here...) and I don't like the idea of being associated with him. Also, because I can trace back and figure out where *I* posted this thing to make people think it's some kind of clipart.

I'm also confused because I don't even think it's that great, anymore. Yeah, the snake is still pretty awesome, but the back-structure is borked...

And rational? This is Teh Internets, you must be mistaking it for somewhere where people can't forget there's another person on the other end of their dealings.

I completely sympathize with you on this whole deal. It astounds me that everyone, even people who're copyright holders themselves will take someone else's art and not even give credit for it.

The worst violation of all is when some zealot takes it and uses it for something you're fundamentally opposed to.

It was the way you "asked" for your credit and assumed that the poster knew it was someone's property. So you enjoy learning your lesson.

Because drawings just spontaneously pop up on the internet from time to time, no intervening human hands to make them, eh?

And what lesson would that be?

I know the internet makes everything look like it's "public domain", what with piracy rampant and all, but that's the most retarded response I've seen all day.

Of course it's someone's property! Also, the sentence "so you enjoy learning your lesson" makes no sense. I'm sure there's an inference or it refers back to the previous sentence, but as it it sits... It looks like a bizarre combination of a "fuck you" and threatening response.

Oh, wicked! Someone who has no knowledge of copyright laws hides behind an anonymous, and really stupid, post.

Sweet.

You'll enjoy learning your lesson, I reckon... what goes around, comes around, as they say. It always does. Yup.

now you need to get in contact with david fucking icke? @_@

weird

Anyways, if you still have the original anywhere, I suggest you frame and re-scan to have available for prints... or even do a reworking of this image in a more polished sense.

Its a good thing to have something of yours take a life of its own, but its better to be paid for it. Something I happened to learn recently as well.

Weird. Gross. 'Icke'y. Yes. *headdesk*

That's assuming the original still exists, and hasn't been ruined by a few years of moving. I may just have to remake it. Both a good idea and a pain in my ass. :P

Just DMCA his ass. No need for proof, he has to take it down unless he counters it.
